On Tuesday July 20, 2010 the Richmond city council will consider whether or not place an advisory measure on November's ballot asking voters whether or not they want a casino at Point Molate.

There are two competing measures being proposed however.  One motion (item L-1 on the agenda) is to consider placing an advisory measure on the November ballot asking voters whether the city should include a casino as part of a project at Pt. Molate, and another   (item L-2 on the agenda) motion is to consider placing an advisory measure on the November ballot asking voters if the city should include a casino with shoreline and open space protection as part of a project at Pt. Molate.

Structurally there is virtually no difference between the two other than the more attractive shoreline and open space language in item L-2. - and it's the advisory measure proposal that is sponsored by the Casino Four (Bates, Viramontes, Rogers, and Lopez).  Perhaps the Casino Four are just trying to make the prospect of a casino at Pt. Molate more palatable....

Whatever the motives of the authors, it is important to support a voice for all Richmond voters on the matter of a casino at Point Molate.
