We are building a community authored plan for the future of one of the last remaining undeveloped headlands in the San Francisco Bay Area - Point Molate.
Our mission seeks to convert the former Navy fuel depot into a sustainable rejuvenation of important historical aspects of Pt. Molate with protection and restoration of its rare native species and supporting habitat.
A true 'people's' gathering place to enjoy the wonders of the SF Bay Area, celebrate and display local craft, fruits of the earth, as well as global cultural infusion, and a place for multiple generations to learn and develop tomorrow's sustaining technologies.

Seven years have transpired since the City of Richmond first entered into an agreement granting Upstream LLC the exclusive right to negotiate for the sale of Point Molate. We face the final vote by the Richmond City Council to approve or disapprove of Upstream's proposal to place an Indian Gaming Casino at Point Molate on April 5, 2011. An advisory measure on last November's ballot asked Richmond citizens whether the city should consider a casino at Point Molate, and 58% said NO. The matter of the casino was a defining issue for last November's election, one in which long time incumbents on the City Council were replaced by anti-casino candidates. It is now down to the City Council to cast their vote - the final step in a very long process. Will they honor the will of the people?
TELL THE CITY COUNCIL TO JUST VOTE - NO!
Throughout the EIR process many agencies, and subject matter experts weighed in on the contents of the EIR, in particular on mitigations that would be appropriate and effective for major impacts such as traffic, protection of habitat and natural resources, management of waste, and aesthetics - largely to no avail.
On the subject of smoking, although the City recently passed an ordinance banning smoking in multi-unit buildings, it did not vote to support the preferred mitigation of a ban on smoking at the casino, instead accepting a plan to use filtration systems to reduce tobacco smoke.
